Social Media- How We Can Use It As A Tool

Our use of social media may not align with our values or goals. Today, we shine a light on our social media use, and discuss a 3-part plan of action to describe and evaluate how our use of social media may be affecting our wellbeing.

Step 1: Identify your goals. What are you using social media for? Professional? Personal development? To increase happiness or connection? To find info on things that can benefit your roles, as a mother? A friend?

Step 2: Gather data. Self-monitoring increases awareness, which leads to changes in behavior. Take one day, and note each time you use social media, whether it's a website or an app. What are you using? For how long? And most importantly- how do you feel when you are done?

Step 3: Analyze. Look at your data and look for patterns. You can employ the SWOT method. Determine, based on your personal use of social media- what are the Strengths? Weaknesses? Opportunities? Threats? Donna walks us through several reflection questions to ponder for each of these categories.
